The global prevalence of diabetes in 2021 reached 10.5% or 537 million adults, with almost half unaware of their condition. IDF predicts this prevalence will increase to 643 million in 2030 and 783 million in 2045, with more than 90% of sufferers experiencing type 2 diabetes which is triggered by various factors. Additionally, approximately 541 million people have Impaired Glucose Tolerance (IGT), which increases the risk of type 2 diabetes (1–3). One non-pharmacological action that can be taken is hyperglycemia management which focuses on providing oral fluid intake of boiled bay leaf water, which contains flavonoids to reduce blood glucose levels by inhibiting glucose reabsorption in the kidneys. Objective: provides an overview of the effectiveness of giving bay leaf decoction in overcoming the problem of unstable blood glucose levels. Method : The research uses a qualitative case study with a case study research approach strategy. The researcher explains a descriptive research approach that focuses on overcoming unstable blood glucose levels by administering bay leaf boiled water in type II diabetes mellitus. The results : After being given bay leaf boiled water for 7 days, both respondents experienced a decrease in blood glucose levels. Respondent 1's current blood glucose level was 460 mg/dl to 237 mg/dl and respondent 2's current blood glucose level was 266 mg/dl to 224 mg/dl. conclusion : the administration of bay leaf infusion is effective in addressing blood glucose instability in patients with type II diabetes mellitus.
Nurul Khasanah; Parmilah, Retno Lusmiati Anisah Copyright (c) 2024 JURNAL KESEHATAN KARTIKA https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 http://stikesjayc.id/ejournal/index.php/litkartika/article/view/306 Sun, 25 Aug 2024 00:00:00 +0700 PENERAPAN SENAM LANSIA UNTUK MENGATASI GANGGUAN POLA TIDUR PADA LANSIA DENGAN INSOMNIA http://stikesjayc.id/ejournal/index.php/litkartika/article/view/307
Background: the number of elderly people in Indonesia in 2020 reached 9.92%, 67% of this number experienced insomnia and 78.1% of this number were women. Method: The type of research is quantitative research using an analytic survey method with a cross-sectional approach. Sampling using a total sampling technique with 42 mothers whose children are enrolled in Murai Sejahtera kindergarten. The instruments in this study used a survey sheet for the duration of gadget use and SDQ (Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire). The test used was Mann-Whitney. Result: The results showed that 23 (54.8%) children used gadgets >1 hour/day. Meanwhile, children's social-emotional development was normal (median = 13). One of the symptoms of gastroenteritis is diarrhea. Diarrhea is the second cause of death in children under five, and was the cause of the deaths of 370,000 children in 2019. One action that can reduce the frequency of diarrhea is the acupressure technique. Method: The method of this case study is a case report in the form of maintenance by applying evidence-based nursing to patients who are managing acute gastroenteritis who are experiencing diarrhea problems by applying acupressure techniques for 2 days with data collection techniques of interviews, observation, physical examination and documentation study. The technique was carried out for 2 days with 2 meetings each day in the morning and evening with a duration of 1 minute at the points St 36, Cv 12, Bl 25, and Li 4 using the tonification technique. The inclusion criteria for this acupressure technique are children aged 0-5 years, children with acute diarrhea problems, given pharmacological therapy and with parental consent. Results: It was found that the frequency of defecation before the acupressure technique was carried out was liquid defecation 5 times, after acupressure therapy the frequency of defecation was reduced to 3 times.
